Mother's love is peace. It need not be acquired, it need not be deserved. -Erich Fromm
I stayed up until all hours of the morning Saturday...er...Sunday, to make the Tole Rose card for my Mom and a matching Coaster box, which was my first, and I messed it up, but hey, Mom's love everything we create, right? :)
I was doing fine until I punched the holes, I shouldn't have punched the bottom holes, and I did the ribbon wrong, but Hey, there is always next time! As my Dad would say "Good enough for Government work." :D
A note on Altering items: I personally LOVE to cover things with paper; tins, boxes, frames...if it stays still I like to alter it....however, I HATE Mod Podge, I find it stays tacky, is either glossy or will not hold...I have found a Miracle product, IMHO! :) It is called Decoupage Gel and it works Wonders, easily applied with a sponge prush, it will hold even heavy CS onto a lunch tin. It dries Matte and I used it on a recipe box with a removable lid and it was not tacky At all, so the lid easily came off and went back on (unlike the previous box I trashed when the Mod Podged lid stuck)
Supplies:
Basic Grey: Perhaps 6X6 Paper
K and Co: Adhesive Pearls
SU: Ribbon, Rose Red CS
Crafter's Pick: Decoupage Gel
I also wanted to show a little closeup on the Tole Rose from the card. You can click on it to enlarge it to see the detail and little "water" droplets (Crystal Effects.)
well I don't see anything wrong with it at all!! It looks great and I bet your mom loved it!
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful Rachel! I love it! I have wanted to try that with flowers.
ReplyDeleteThe card and box are just gorgeous. I hate ModPodge too, so thanks for the tip. I'll be checking into the Decoupage Gel.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous creations! What a fantastic flower!
