September 2020 In Review

Sept 2nd: Went to Portland to go to the World Food and Asian Food stores with Krista and the kids, got Mongolian Grill for lunch and lots of new fruits and treats to try

Sept 3rd: Dinner and gardening with Fayyad

Sept 6th: Dinner at Mom and Dad's with Connor, all appetizers

Sept 1-7th: still trying to keep at the jogging and training for Couch25K, the kids hate it, but Krista and I still persist when possible. Running on the logging road in the forest is so therapeutic. Sadly, the fire, wind, downed trees, smoke and fire clean up halted our running attempts after the Otis Fire Sept 8th.

Sept 7th: Meet Scott's roommate Dejan. (Krista's new boy Scott) Made dinner at the house, guys left just before wind started really howling. Sun was visible when I went to get Connor from work and had disappeared by the time we got back.

Sept 8th: Woke at 4 am, after a night of sleep reducing winds, to a red sky like I have never seen before. The wind was howling and the downed trees had caused forest fires near Otis. We decided to escape the smoke and go north up the coast to Rockaway Beach where the air was clear. We packed a few things and important papers "just in case" with no expectation of the fire getting much closer.

Sept 8-11th: After lunch and some time on the beach we headed north, hit the smoke from the fires in WA and decided to come home, only to find out that the fire had gotten to the 101 just north of town and the way highway was closed. We were stuck, so we went to Portland and got a hotel room for a few days. The kids were restless and worried about the animals, I was worried about the fire getting into town and Mom and Dad being stuck, Krista was generally anxious about everything. Krista's kid's dad came and picked them up to take them back to Idaho. We had a delicious meal at Salam restaurant. We spent one more night in the room and then, as the smoke crept into Portland and the 101 reopened, we came home to ash and smoke everywhere....but thankfully our home intact and the fire stopped before it got to Lincoln City

Sept 12th-15th: We served free coffee to those displaced and working the fire at Zefir, Krista and I cleaned up ash and washed windows, and maybe took some time here and there for a much needed drink.

Sept 21st: Mabon Celebration. Cider tasting at Salt Creek Cidery with Krista and then dinner at Fayyad's with Krista and Scott with Mean and Cider

Sept 23rd: Girl's Day with Krista shopping for Zefir, Lunch at Nana's and Princess Bride on the couch

Sept 28th: Connor went to Boise with Dad and will stay at Zack's for a few weeks to visit friends.

Sept 30th: Plants for the bathtub at Tah·Lume dropped off, New old camera equipment from Anja's Dad, Wolf. Dinner at Fayyad's. That's a good day!
