Back to School...

I like a teacher who gives you something to take home to think about besides homework. -Lily Tomlin
It's already time to think about school...summer is winding down...although the weather mand said it is going to be a 100* today! EEEK

This week's Truly Scrumptious Challenge is to make "Anything But a Card" and the SUInk Challenge is to make a Back to School item...I'd
like to say this is a cute little Back to School gift for a teacher, but in reality it is a SUPER late thank you gift for Last Year's teacher! I ordered the shape too late and didn't get it done in time for the last day of kindergarten...then of course I didn't see her all summer, so last night I sat down and got it done so I can take it to her next week. Hopefully they still count this for the challenge anyway! ;)

I got the adorable apple shape from Say it With Letters, they have an Etsy shop that is FULL of wonderful shapes and letters and words. I decorated the MDF shape with Imaginisce papers (sadly this line is sold out) and added Prima flowers (colored with Copics to match,) Felt Flowers and lots of yummy Zva Swirl bling. The buttons are from Papertrey and the letter stickers are Covered with Stickles (although you can't see it in the picture, they are super sparkly!) I added zig zag stiching to the green panel before I glued it down, I also added ribbon and scrapper's Floss to the buttons and a bow to the stem. The sides are painted with green acrylic paint...
I was really pleased with how the stiching came out!!
Here is a detail shot of the dimension...
Thanks for stopping by!!

  3. Oh RACHEL!!!!! This project is da bomb!!!! Your stitching is magnificent. I'm about an hour away from being done all my alterations for this wedding season and I really need to remember to using my sewing machine for more than sewing clothes... In a weird way, that sounds funny!
